Quick Biography
Professionally known and famous as Ellen Page, Ellen Philpotts-Page is a Canadian actress who was born on February 21, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. Although she started acting at the age of 10 when she acted in the TV series Pit Pony, yet she came into the limelight with her role of the cynical and witty pregnant teenager Juno, in the movie Juno. With the brilliant performance in the movie Juno, Ellen Page not only caught the attention of the audiences and movie critics but she also received the nominations in the Best Actress category of the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards.
Ellen page symbolizes the young Hollywood. A modest actress, she was not much known until her performance in Hard Candy. It was a brilliant performance for a young girl who knew very little about the movie industry and its working. Her performance brought her rave reviews and many fans for many years to come. As per her fans, she is the ideal face of a young Hollywood as a talented and young actress. Her fans appreciate her getting into the entertainment industry because of her incredible talent and not because of being glamorous and rich.
First Acting Role
Ellen page had an inclination for acting right from an early age and this is evident from the fact that she started training at the Neptune Theatre School early on. At the age of 10, she worked in the made-for-television movie Pit Pony. Her performance in the movie was quite appreciated and she received the Young Artist Award nomination in the Best Performance category. She also received the Gemini nomination for Best Performance in Children’s or Youth Program or Series for the same performance. Later her work in Wilby Wonderful brought her the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor category in the Atlantic Film Festival. This performance also brought her the Genie nomination. Again her role in the TV series, ReGenesis won her the Best Performance by an actress in a Featured Supporting Role category and a Gemini was awarded to her.
Page has portrayed several characters in various TV serials and movies since her debut in the television industry. The movies that she did prior to Juno include her debut film Marion Bridge (2002), Trailer Park Boys (2001-2002) and the television movie Downloaded a Ghost (2004). She has worked with some known veteran actresses of Hollywood like Catherine Keener in the movie An American Crime, with Sarah Jones Parker in Smart People and Ellen Burstyn in Stone Angel.

Box Office Movie Roles
Ellen has another box-office hit to her name and that is X-Men: The Last Stand in which she portrayed the character of Kitty Pryde. This movie became a hit soon after it was released in the summer of 2006. But her real talent was unraveled in 2007 when she assayed the character of Juno in the movie with the same name. Till date this is regarded as her best performance. The movie Juno was nominated for the Best Picture category in the Oscar Awards of 2008. Thus with a series of hits and good roles, Ellen has proved herself to be one of the brightest and loveliest young face to grace the big screen ever.
Ellen page is a modest actress who admits that while growing up she loved climbing up trees and playing with action figures. In her teenage years she played competitive football in Halifax at the right wing/midfield position. More recently in the year 2007, she visited Serbia and Romania on a backpack trip with one of her friend. This had been her long time fascination and wanted to visit these parts of the world.
Professional Accomplishments
With a short but impressive professional career Page was nominated in the 100 Most Influential People list of the Time in the year 2008. The FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World list saw her at the #86th position. Also in the same year 2008 her name appeared in the future A-List stars list of the Entertainment Weekly.

Ellen Page at BAFTA for the 2008 Orange Rising Star Award
Besides the various awards, citations and nominations that she has received an important one is the nomination in the BAFTA for the 2008 Orange Rising Star Award.

Ellen Page as Juno MacGuff in Juno
As per the latest news about Ellen, she turned down the lead role in the movie Jane Eyre which was from the Ruby Films production house. Similarly she turned down another movie by the name of Jack & Diane. The details with regard to her disapproval are still unknown but this made sure that she has time to concentrate on Stitch N’ Bitch which would make its debut in the mid 2010 on HBO.
Continue the Acting Path
Page is also acting in a real-life drama by the name of An American Crime. In this movie, she is playing a teenage girl, Sylvia Likens, who is imprisoned and tortured to death. The real life incident occurred in 1965 when a group of teenagers led by a housewife from the suburbs, commit this heinous crime. The role of the housewife is portrayed by Catherine Keener. Page has also completed the movie The Tracey Fragments where she plays the role of a traumatized young girl who is stressed by a series of vignettes from her memory. The movie is directed by Bruce McDonald and he revealed that since the year 2000, she had Page in mind for the role.
In a span of a few years, Ellen Page has established herself as a bankable actress. She is content by following her own path and chooses projects which are meaningful and memorable ones.
i never saw any of ellen’s movies or tv shows but as soon as i saw her in her advertisements for the video conferencing i said to myself ‘here is the new mary tyler moore’. good looking, wholesome girl next door with that semi-stutter half-scared stiff delivery of a funny line. i’ll bet if you asked her she picked up a lot from her studies of laura petrie and mary richards.
The first movie I saw Ellen in was Juno. She was great. Then we rented Hard Candy. She was spectacular. She can slip into a role like someone putting on a shirt. I hope I can get my hands on everything she has acted in. I think she will be an actress that will leave a long trail of successful films. I think she has a chamelion quality that gives her a broad range to draw from. I say watch out Hollywood, she is going to blaze a big trail. I feel sorry for the directors that she turns down, I think she has a quality that is untouchable. I wish I were in the movie business, just to get a chance to see her up close & in action when filming. Remember “Dynamite” comes in small packages & this Little Canadian is dynamite!!!

When I heard of Ellen Page for the first time, it was when Juno first came out in theaters. I saw Whip It earlier today and admit she did a good job playing Bliss in it. You go girl!
Hi! I was just goggling around for Ellen’s official Twitter, because she mentioned in an interview a few months ago, that she was on there. So I was wondering if anybody in here knows what it is? I’ve been a fan of hers, ever since she rocked the black pleather with little pink hightlights in X Men: the Last Stand! Drop me a line, I’d really appreciate it.

Regarding her interview of her new movie, Inception, Will_Antonin said it best:
I wish all Leftist actors, entertainers, and politicians would finally realize the following:
Talking slowly with heavy affectation doesn’t make you an intellectual. (e.g. the actress in this video)
Parroting the accepted ideas predominant in your subculture doesn’t make you edgy, iconoclastic, or free thinking. (e.g. the actors in this video but also every Leftist in media or academia today).
Wearing big plastic glasses does not make you an intellectual either (e.g. Janeane Garofalo, Keith Olbermann, et al)
Subscribing to Leftist political ideology does not mean you are therefore intellectually superior to anyone else. The fact that you assume this — that your ideology proves you’re smarter than others — reveals a tendency towards circular thinking painfully obvious to everyone but yourself.
You should really avoid posing as smarter, more enlightened than everyone else when your job is to read lines someone else wrote for you, when you have no academic credentials that mark you as in anyway exceptional, and when you have acquired no — literally no — expertise in anything other than pretending.
Talk down to me when relating how one fakes crying. Talk down to me when telling me how to look surprised as a fake building is collapsing on the green screen behind you. But don’t talk down to me when speaking about something about which you have NO EXPERTISE (read: about something about which you have no f-ing clue).
And please stop waxing poetic about the need to save the earth. Is the carbon you use up somehow different than mine? Then why do you have such big houses? Why do you use private jets? The only difference between us is that you use so much MORE than I — or my backwards, toothless, redneck, Palin-supportin’, hillbilly colleagues — do. If there is a problem, it is you. Don’t tell us about saving the earth.
While I’m at it, why do you not give your money away to the poor, the needy, the downtrodden?
I’ve devolved into ranting. But it infuriates me. Secular Leftists are the most supercilious, self-righteous, hypocritical bunch I’ve encountered in a long time. They preach to middle America but do nothing themselves. I know devout Christians — living on fixed incomes — who still donate 10% of their money to charity while Leftist actors (“celebrities” is a word I refuse to use, as it suggests someone worth “celebrating”) do nothing but whine, pout, and rail against the system they’ve benefited from — all the while telling us how their secular progressive approach to life is somehow superior.
That’s enough emotional energy on this topic. Now, I go back to ignoring these people — at the box office, in my home, in my thoughts.
Little girl you really need to stay out of politics unless you know WTF you’re talking about.
A piece of advise – stay politically neutral -unless you really want to destroy your career before it gets started.
Maybe you should just act. I dont want to know your political views. I don’t care if you agree or disagree with me, shut up and entertain me. When I am watching you and then suddenly think about some stupid political comment you made, it takes away from my experience that I paid for!
Do not use your new found position in Hollywood to espouse your political views.I am a citizen of the United States and do not care to hear your left wing drivel.
i’m very love you… you’re so Fantastic & Beautiful………….
I hope you take the role as Lisbeth Salanger! You are perfect for the role.
Really, really impressed with ellen page, I think it’s a great actress and why not say it is very beautiful, I hope she continues to accept roles as it has done until now have movies that I really liked. A kiss, I wish the best for your life.

If I had the money I’d move to Hollywood to be in a movie with her…I doubt that will ever happen though…I live in a small town with no chances & no money.. I am SO in love with her…she’s my idol..
I LOVE ELLEN PAGE MORE THAN EVERYONE DO ! EVEN YOU YOU YOU AND YOU !
I met Ellen when she was on a subway platform in Manhattan and she told me 1) I should be looking for someone my own age and 2) I could move to Montreal where the age of consent is lower and I would have fun. She offered her contact info of manager and agent in toronto, and I did not take it since I thought she thought I was a perv! Nothing could be further from the truth! I play guitar and have some stage experience and would love to work with her, and see her again when she comes to NY. Love and Happiness, your old friend, Dan Tobin
