Jane Eyre Loses Ellen Page

Jane Eyre is one of those English classics which every young actress want to get into. There have been many adaptations made, the latest one being from the Ruby Films. The production house had roped in Ellen Page to portray the role of the poor and plain heroine of the movie. As per the reports by Variety, official declaration from Page’s office has confirmed that she has dropped out of the project. However, Cary Fukunaga has been roped in as the director.

Moira Buffini, who is one of the rising screenwriters of Britain and Cary Fukunaga has teamed up to write and direct the latest adaptation of Jane Eyre. Also with Ellen Page out of the project officially, Ruby Films are now planning to ramp up the casting procedure for the roles of Rochester and Jane. The matter is now of concern, as to who would be interested in doing the lead role in the Literature’s finest adaptation.

The news about Ellen Page dropping out of Jane Eyre has been hard to digest by her fans. They were waiting to see her once again in a classical role after her Oscar winning performance in “Juno”. Now with the “Whip It” not doing great at the box-office, Page’s fan have to see what is in store for them as she has completed “Inception” and “Peacock” and “Super” is on the floor.

The director Fukunaga has already won rave reviews with his debut feature, Sin Nombre which got him the Best Director award in the Sundance Film Festival.
