The Tracey Fragments Opens Today

Posted on November 2nd, 2007

The Tracey Fragments opens today to some mixed reviews. The film, starring Ellen Page, is shown almost entirely in split-screen frames.

From the Toronto Sun:

The Tracey Fragments is an interesting experiment. Just know going in that you have to be ready to engage in a way that’s quite different from passive moviegoing.

From Canada.com:

It’s built in layers: cool, intense, and somewhat distanced. The very technique that creates Tracey’s mind also keeps us from it, despite another intensely realized performance by Page (Hard Candy, X-Men 3), who finds the right mix of alienation and angry need.

Ellen Page can relate to Tracey

Posted on October 26th, 2007

Ellen Page stars in The Tracey Fragments, an experimental film by Bruce McDonald about a teenager whose life is falling apart, gets bullied around at school and is an outsider. Page can related and feels compassion for a fearless girl like Tracey:

“If you’re at all different you’re judged for it”

“I get judged for wearing friggin’ jeans and T-shirts. People judge me in a variety of ways just because of the way I dress or the way I carry myself. I don’t care.”

“From a young age, girls are so socialized to be this one thing. People can just be so friggin’ narrow-minded, especially in this industry, and it gets so frustrating. There’s this illusion that you should be yourself and the pressure to not be yourself is pretty intense.”

The Tracey Fragments is released and playing today Canada.
