Quick Biography
Professionally known and famous as Ellen Page, Ellen Philpotts-Page is a Canadian actress who was born on February 21, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. Although she started acting at the age of 10 when she acted in the TV series Pit Pony, yet she came into the limelight with her role of the cynical and witty pregnant teenager Juno, in the movie Juno. With the brilliant performance in the movie Juno, Ellen Page not only caught the attention of the audiences and movie critics but she also received the nominations in the Best Actress category of the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards.
Ellen page symbolizes the young Hollywood. A modest actress, she was not much known until her performance in Hard Candy. It was a brilliant performance for a young girl who knew very little about the movie industry and its working. Her performance brought her rave reviews and many fans for many years to come. As per her fans, she is the ideal face of a young Hollywood as a talented and young actress. Her fans appreciate her getting into the entertainment industry because of her incredible talent and not because of being glamorous and rich.
First Acting Role
Ellen page had an inclination for acting right from an early age and this is evident from the fact that she started training at the Neptune Theatre School early on. At the age of 10, she worked in the made-for-television movie Pit Pony. Her performance in the movie was quite appreciated and she received the Young Artist Award nomination in the Best Performance category. She also received the Gemini nomination for Best Performance in Children’s or Youth Program or Series for the same performance. Later her work in Wilby Wonderful brought her the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor category in the Atlantic Film Festival. This performance also brought her the Genie nomination. Again her role in the TV series, ReGenesis won her the Best Performance by an actress in a Featured Supporting Role category and a Gemini was awarded to her.

Page has portrayed several characters in various TV serials and movies since her debut in the television industry. The movies that she did prior to Juno include her debut film Marion Bridge (2002), Trailer Park Boys (2001-2002) and the television movie Downloaded a Ghost (2004). She has worked with some known veteran actresses of Hollywood like Catherine Keener in the movie An American Crime, with Sarah Jones Parker in Smart People and Ellen Burstyn in Stone Angel.

Box Office Movie Roles
Ellen has another box-office hit to her name and that is X-Men: The Last Stand in which she portrayed the character of Kitty Pryde. This movie became a hit soon after it was released in the summer of 2006. But her real talent was unraveled in 2007 when she assayed the character of Juno in the movie with the same name. Till date this is regarded as her best performance. The movie Juno was nominated for the Best Picture category in the Oscar Awards of 2008. Thus with a series of hits and good roles, Ellen has proved herself to be one of the brightest and loveliest young face to grace the big screen ever.
Ellen page is a modest actress who admits that while growing up she loved climbing up trees and playing with action figures. In her teenage years she played competitive football in Halifax at the right wing/midfield position. More recently in the year 2007, she visited Serbia and Romania on a backpack trip with one of her friend. This had been her long time fascination and wanted to visit these parts of the world.
Professional Accomplishments
With a short but impressive professional career Page was nominated in the 100 Most Influential People list of the Time in the year 2008. The FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World list saw her at the #86th position. Also in the same year 2008 her name appeared in the future A-List stars list of the Entertainment Weekly.

Besides the various awards, citations and nominations that she has received an important one is the nomination in the BAFTA for the 2008 Orange Rising Star Award.
Ellen Page as Juno MacGuff in Juno
After a brief period of lull following the brilliant performance in Juno, the Toronto International Film Festival gave a hero’s welcome to Ellen. Here she was greeted with whoops, yells and thunderous applause when she was introduced at the premiere of the movie “Whip It” in front of a huge crowd at Ryerson University. Her character in “Whip It” is that of a small town girl who joins a derby team from Austin, Texas. The movie is under Drew Barrymore who is debuting with this movie.
As per the latest news about Ellen, she turned down the lead role in the movie Jane Eyre which was from the Ruby Films production house. Similarly she turned down another movie by the name of Jack & Diane. The details with regard to her disapproval are still unknown but this made sure that she has time to concentrate on Stitch N’ Bitch which would make its debut in the mid 2010 on HBO.
Continue the Acting Path
Page is also acting in a real-life drama by the name of An American Crime. In this movie, she is playing a teenage girl, Sylvia Likens, who is imprisoned and tortured to death. The real life incident occurred in 1965 when a group of teenagers led by a housewife from the suburbs, commit this heinous crime. The role of the housewife is portrayed by Catherine Keener. Page has also completed the movie The Tracey Fragments where she plays the role of a traumatized young girl who is stressed by a series of vignettes from her memory. The movie is directed by Bruce McDonald and he revealed that since the year 2000, she had Page in mind for the role.
In a span of a few years, Ellen Page has established herself as a bankable actress. She is content by following her own path and chooses projects which are meaningful and memorable ones.

Wow, Ellen is a breath of fresh air for Hollywood. Finally, someone who takes their job seriously instead of just trying to get buy on good looks and a whim(shout out to Lohan). I just saw her in Smart People and saw Juno a while back. Incredible performances. I am happy to know that she is going to be making a lot more movies. Way to Go.

Ok, first off, I am clearly a big fan of Ellen Page. I thought Juno as a character was cool, but then I saw a couple of Ellen’s interviews, and suprisingly, she seems even cooler. This being said, and I really hate to sound pessimistic, but do all you people who have posted on this website actually think Ellen Page is going to read your post, let alone respond back?
I may be totally wrong, but it just does not seem likely that she knows about this webpage, but yet everyone is writing to her as if she is going to read it. I really hope she does respond to some of your posts, I wish that for you, and if it happens, post a little message to show me and prove me wrong.
I’m not saying that she feels she is too superiour to answer some of your posts, I just can’t see it happening. It just doesn’t seem plausible.

Just watched An American Crime The other night and since then havnt been able to stop thinking bout it. its a hard movie to watch, not because its gruesome as some people say but because how natural and real the acting and the film are, especially Ellen and her co-star Catherine were amazing. i don’t think i will ever forget this movie and just wanted to let fans of Ellen know that if you ever get a chance to watch it because it makes you realise how brilliant Ellen really is.

For the first time ever, my need to go to the Theatre is now completly restored. I saw ‘Hard Candy’ and was, well shocked, amazed, just stuck to my chair. And long after the credits had roled. The guy started vacuming the spilt popcorn from around my feet, gave me a poke and said ‘Dude, where closing in five’.
Juno i caught on a flight from London to Vancouver last week and you proved you had it, (not that you need my approval, obviously). Congrats on the Oscar nomination, very well deserved. Your role in ‘Smart People’ was another great character. I cant waith to see you in ‘The Tracey Fragments’ anything with a different filming style, im going to pay attention to. So good luck with your furture endevors and please keep your attitude to the whole buissness the way it is. I cant stand fake people and unfortunatly as you know there’s way too many in movie/society. So be yourself and ‘Fuck-em’ if they want/ask you to change.

Hey Ellen not even sure you read these things much less respond to them which I can understand cause reading some of them has kind of freaked me out so I’m guessing it’s worse when they’re directed at you, but anyway just saying (what a lot have said many times before me) way to go, you were halarise as Juno and you role in Hard Candy was amazing I haven’t seen Smart People yet and I only really heard about it online just now (travelling has kind of gotten in the way of going to the cinema) but I look foreward to watching it and any of you future work. I must say.. I am quite the critic when it comes to movies I believe are ‘chick-flick’ genre’s… quite often they bore me. Juno introduced yourself to me, and for some reason – I can’t get sick of watching it, even after I have now for the fourth time. The sheer hilarity, and surprisingly un-cheesy plot & dialogue of that movie, intrigued me.
Juno aside – I think you are a fantastic actress yourself. One thing I hate in the world of fame, are people that leach it all for what it’s worth, and of course – another dollar. You don’t strike me as the kind of person that cares for that as much, maybe. You seem down to earth.
Credits to you in all your roles.
If you’re ever in Australia, make it known.. We don’t get to see alot of the stuff on our shores, as what comes out of America. Meeting talented people such as yourself, can be quite a treat. Although, I doubt this will ever get read!
