Professionally known and famous as Ellen Page, Ellen Philpotts-Page is a Canadian actress who was born on February 21, 1987 in Halifax, Nova Scotia in Canada. Although she started acting at the age of 10 when she acted in the TV series Pit Pony, yet she came into the limelight with her role of the cynical and witty pregnant teenager Juno, in the movie Juno. With the brilliant performance in the movie Juno, Ellen Page not only caught the attention of the audiences and movie critics but she also received the nominations in the Best Actress category of the Golden Globe Awards and the Academy Awards.
Ellen page symbolizes the young Hollywood. A modest actress, she was not much known until her performance in Hard Candy. It was a brilliant performance for a young girl who knew very little about the movie industry and its working. Her performance brought her rave reviews and many fans for many years to come. First Acting Role
Ellen page had an inclination for acting right from an early age and this is evident from the fact that she started training at the Neptune Theatre School early on. At the age of 10, she worked in the made-for-television movie Pit Pony. Her performance in the movie was quite appreciated and she received the Young Artist Award nomination in the Best Performance category. She also received the Gemini nomination for Best Performance in Children’s or Youth Program or Series for the same performance. Later her work in Wilby Wonderful brought her the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor category in the Atlantic Film Festival. This performance also brought her the Genie nomination. Again her role in the TV series, ReGenesis won her the Best Performance by an actress in a Featured Supporting Role category and a Gemini was awarded to her.
Page has portrayed several characters in various TV serials and movies since her debut in the television industry. The movies that she did prior to Juno include her debut film Marion Bridge (2002), Trailer Park Boys (2001-2002) and the television movie Downloaded a Ghost (2004). She has worked with some known veteran actresses of Hollywood like Catherine Keener in the movie An American Crime, with Sarah Jones Parker in Smart People and Ellen Burstyn in Stone Angel.

Box Office Movie Roles
Ellen has another box-office hit to her name and that is X-Men: The Last Stand in which she portrayed the character of Kitty Pryde. This movie became a hit soon after it was released in the summer of 2006. But her real talent was unraveled in 2007 when she assayed the character of Juno in the movie with the same name. Till date this is regarded as her best performance. The movie Juno was nominated for the Best Picture category in the Oscar Awards of 2008. Thus with a series of hits and good roles, Ellen has proved herself to be one of the brightest and loveliest young face to grace the big screen ever.
Ellen page is a modest actress who admits that while growing up she loved climbing up trees and playing with action figures. In her teenage years she played competitive football in Halifax at the right wing/midfield position. More recently in the year 2007, she visited Serbia and Romania on a backpack trip with one of her friend. This had been her long time fascination and wanted to visit these parts of the world.

With a short but impressive professional career Page was nominated in the 100 Most Influential People list of the Time in the year 2008. The FHM’s Sexiest Women in the World list saw her at the #86th position. Also in the same year 2008 her name appeared in the future A-List stars list of the Entertainment Weekly.

As per the latest news about Ellen, she turned down the lead role in the movie Jane Eyre which was from the Ruby Films production house. Similarly she turned down another movie by the name of Jack & Diane. The details with regard to her disapproval are still unknown but this made sure that she has time to concentrate on Stitch N’ Bitch which would make its debut in the mid 2010 on HBO.
Continue the Acting Path
Page is also acting in a real-life drama by the name of An American Crime. In this movie, she is playing a teenage girl, Sylvia Likens, who is imprisoned and tortured to death. The real life incident occurred in 1965 when a group of teenagers led by a housewife from the suburbs, commit this heinous crime. The role of the housewife is portrayed by Catherine Keener. Page has also completed the movie The Tracey Fragments where she plays the role of a traumatized young girl who is stressed by a series of vignettes from her memory. The movie is directed by Bruce McDonald and he revealed that since the year 2000, she had Page in mind for the role.
In a span of a few years, Ellen Page has established herself as a bankable actress. She is content by following her own path and chooses projects which are meaningful and memorable ones.
